About Southcoast Raqs: Elizabeth Estrella created Southcoast Raqs in 2024 as a means of highlighting the diversity & talent of our local New England belly dance artists. Inspired by a lack of opportunities for dancers of all backgrounds, abilities, & identities, Elizabeth reached out to many of her fantastic colleagues to create a stage show where all artists are safe to showcase their talent. Across three shows in 2024, Southcoast Raqs featured thirty-seven dancers from MA, RI, VT, CT, Lebanon, the Dominican Republic, France, Brazil & more! We’ve had the honor & privilege of sharing the stage with professional headliners: Najla, Inara & Sherine Khatoun. The show is also a celebration of small business & has featured twelve local vendors so far.
